Search Dodge County Court Dockets

A Dodge County court docket search starts with the court that received the case. Public Circuit Court matters appear as case information through Wisconsin's statewide system, while many city citations remain with a municipal court. The Dodge County court docket can identify filings, case status, and future hearings, but the complete file stays with the clerk. Search the Dodge County court docket by party or case number, check which court has jurisdiction, and then contact that court when an online summary does not supply the document or current setting needed.

WCCA Fields for Dodge County

The WCCA simple search lets Dodge County users narrow a case without guessing at private facts. A case number is the cleanest key. One number, one file. Party and business names work when the number is unknown. A common surname can flood you with records. Birth-date handling varies by case type and by the public-access rules that apply to it.

The Wisconsin case-search launch page splits Circuit Court and appellate searches, and that split matters once a Dodge County case has moved past the trial court.

The official WCCA interface is the public entry point for a Dodge County Circuit Court docket search. It returns the case record straight from the court's own system.

Dodge County Court Docket Fields

Read a Dodge County court docket as a dated list of events. WCCA can show the case classification, its status, public parties, the court branch, filings and activities, future settings, judgments, and warrants. Those items appear when they are open to view. Labels shift with case type and with how a clerk records each event. So one caution. A line saying a document was filed confirms an entry in the record, nothing more. The public cannot download the document from that line. The judge may not have granted what it asked.

Case numberThe court-assigned key used for searches and copy requests.
PartiesNames displayed where public access permits.
Case activityDated filings, minutes, orders, and other recorded events.

DispositionThe labeled result or status recorded by the court, not a full explanation of the ruling.

Dodge County Case Information Limits

Dodge County access works in two layers: a summary online, the file at the clerk. WCCA exposes public case information. The Clerk of Circuit Court keeps the rest. That means the complaint, answer, motions, exhibits, orders, judgment, and everything else actually filed. Parties and their attorneys can open e-filed documents through authorized accounts, but that access does not turn the same documents into public downloads.

Case information
The public WCCA summary of status, parties, events, and settings that law permits.
Case activity
A dated event in the court record, such as a filing, hearing, or order entry.
Future activity
A setting that is scheduled to occur and may still change.
Complete court file
The underlying documents held by the clerk, subject to access and confidentiality rules.

When a docket line names the filing you need, write down its title and date. Those two details speed up a clerk request and keep you from ordering the wrong item.

Dodge County Courts and Their Dockets

Wisconsin runs a unified Circuit Court, not separate county and district trial courts. Four Dodge County branches sit in Juneau. They hear general criminal, civil, family, probate, juvenile, and criminal-traffic matters. Below that sits a separate layer. Municipal courts handle city, village, or town ordinance forfeitures and many traffic citations. Pick the wrong layer. A solid name search returns nothing useful. It is the most common reason a docket search comes up empty.

Dodge County Courthouse Access Tools

Online tools are not the only route into a Dodge County court docket. The Clerk of Circuit Court provides public WCCA computers and an information kiosk at the Justice Facility. The building supports court operations. It offers public Wi-Fi, video conferencing, teleconferencing, and document-display tools. Anyone without home internet can use those machines. Find a case number there before asking for a file. The clerk's counter handles file inspection. Paper and electronic files that are available can be inspected there, and copies can be requested by phone, mail, fax, or the records email. One caution on that email. It is not an e-filing channel. A document sent there never reaches the Dodge County court docket.

For branch and court-reporter contacts, the state Circuit Court directory is the dependable source. A county judges page has carried an older, inconsistent Branch 1 listing. Confirm current branch details against the state directory.

Court Dates and Settings in Dodge County

The official WCCA calendar report can be filtered by court office and date range. Its controls include or exclude non-court activities and traffic-only results. Each entry may show the branch or court official, date, time, case number, case caption, and activity type. Save all of it. A time alone may not identify the right hearing. The branch or case number pins it down. Treat a future-activity line as provisional. A later order, continuance, or court notice can replace it, so confirm any close or disputed setting with the clerk or judicial assistant. The full Dodge County court schedule walkthrough covers the online calendar, phone and counter checks, and municipal alternatives.

Municipal dates need their own check. Watertown publishes court-calendar navigation. Beaver Dam and Horicon point users to their court offices and citation instructions. The time printed on a citation is not always the actual initial-appearance session time. The official Wisconsin calendar form shows the controls. Use them to focus a Dodge County court schedule.

Dodge County Motion Dates

A filed motion in Dodge County is not the same as a scheduled hearing. Under the local court rules, you set motion dates through the judge or the judicial assistant. Filing alone is not enough. Civil motion papers carry their own local timing requirements too. That is why a WCCA filing entry can show up on the docket before any hearing lands on the calendar. The hearing may land on the calendar later.

Check the future activity. If a motion appears with no date, contact the assigned branch instead of treating the filing date as the hearing date.

A reset or continuance adds a new entry; it does not wipe out the old ones. Sort the docket by date and focus on the latest future setting. For a municipal citation, ask that city's clerk, because the Circuit Court calendar may never list it.

Dodge County Caseload in Context

Dodge County Circuit Court logged 1,664 criminal filings. That count comes from the certified 2024 Wisconsin report. The breakdown: 541 felony, 628 misdemeanor, and 495 criminal-traffic filings. Dispositions for the year came to 1,496. Another 705 criminal cases were still pending at year end. Treat these as workload categories, not head counts of people. Adding filings to dispositions also distorts the picture. The two groups do not overlap within one year.

1,4962024 criminal dispositions
705criminal cases pending at year end

The civil table tells its own story: 2,829 cases opened, 2,764 disposed, and 547 pending at year end. Those labels track case-management activity across detailed subcategories. They say nothing about how long any single Dodge County court docket will stay open.

Dodge County Docket Access Rules

Wisconsin leans toward open records, but real limits apply. The Wisconsin Public Records Law, court rules, and statutes all shield certain case types or data. WCCA builds those limits into its public view. Juvenile matters, adoptions, guardianships, confidential family cases, sealed files, protected records, and expunged material may be omitted or restricted. A sealed case sometimes leaves behind a minimal shell. That shell might display a case number or a sealing notice while the actual file stays hidden.

Key Rules:

Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39 states Wisconsin's public-record policy and request framework.

Wisconsin court redaction rules keep protected personal data out of public case information.

Wis. Stat. § 973.015 governs qualifying adult criminal expunction; dismissal alone does not expunge a case.

When Dodge County Records Are Restricted

A search that returns nothing does not prove the case is absent. You may have queried the wrong court. The name might differ from the form as filed, or the record may be confidential, sealed, juvenile, or expunged. Some protected matters display only limited case information. Others never reach the public portal at all.

Resist the urge to reconstruct hidden details from a case shell. Ask the Clerk of Circuit Court what access process applies. Sealing reaches the clerk's own file as well as WCCA. A public-record request will not override it. Probate can show a status, a personal representative, claims dates, or an open/closed label. The will, inventory, or protected filing stays at the probate office.

Expunction is not dismissal either. Dodge County's official FAQ describes an expunged record as sealed by the clerk. It is open only by court order. It is removed from WCCA after the update. Read the visible status on a Dodge County court docket exactly as labeled.

How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records

Kelly Enright is the Clerk of Circuit Court. Her office keeps and administers the docket records for Dodge County Circuit Court. Requests can come in person, by phone, mail, fax, or email. Include the case number, the document name and date, and a callback number. No case number? Search WCCA first. The county charges $5 when staff must locate one.

Dodge County Copies and Audio

A docket summary answers one question. A plain copy, a certified copy, a transcript, and an audio recording each answer a different one. WCCA is enough for tracking a public event or finding a case number. A plain copy just reproduces a filed paper. A certified copy carries the clerk's official certification. A transcript is written up through the reporter. Digital audio preserves the court recording but is not a certified transcript.

Ask for only the item you actually need. Probate, adoption, municipal, appellate, and federal records can sit with different custodians and different fees, so the Dodge Circuit Court schedule does not apply to them.
